In the market for a W220...
I am interested in possibly buying a W220 this year and I'm starting to do my homework. I have not worked on any yet as I mostly just deal with 80's and 90's models but I like the look and I hear they are great cars. For the money they seem like a bargain. What should I look for, what years and models to members like best?

Stay away from the pre-facelift. Find the best car regardless of price.

Personally I'd kinda hang loose till the 221s get right on price.

Jim, I had thought about that. I think in a couple years the 221's will drop quite a bit but I also think that availability of used parts is pretty good now on the 220 from being out since 2000. Plus a 2006 w220 represents a 6 year run of the car, so I would imagine by then most of the bugs would have been worked out but not sure.... It looks like one could buy a very descent late w220 for around $10k where as a similar mileage/condition w221 is $20k+. I feel like a nice w220 could serve me well for 5 years and then I'll switch to a $10k W221.
