Greetings everyone, I'm new here. From the looks of this forum I believe I might can get the help I need. I have a 1991 300e and as of yesterday (I think) the brake lights have stopped working along with the back-up lights. I've checked the fuses and the bulbs and all seems fine. No bulb-out idiot light on the dash to indicate a problem, just a couple of irate commuters tipped me to the situation. I'm hoping it might be a relay, but I have no idea which one. Any ideas on this?
Thanks much |

Unfortunately, I think they all come from the lighting module. If that is correct the brake light signal goes to the module and the module turns on the lights. The module is in the fuse/relay box.
A wiring diagram would be handy.

Brake Lights
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Sorry I haven't replied earlier but it took me a while to track down a wiring diagram. Once I found the lighting module I discovered that one of the wiring harnesses had become loose and wasn't making a good connection. What I thought was going to be a potentially expensive fix was just a matter of resecuring the wires.
Thanks again Steve, you saved me about $200.00!!! |
