Ok, here goes. I have a 1987 300SDL and just got around to changing the oil / filter for the first time. [Yes, it was changed fairly regularly, I was told.] Anyways, the nuts on the cover for the oil filter were on incredibly tight. One of them came off with a great deal of pulling, the other one somehow sheared right off. So now the bolt that goes into the oil filter housing [the name for this is what?] is much too short to put the nut on. Do the bolts screw into the housing? Or do I get to buy and install / have a new housing installed? Where can I get the bolts, and or housing? Thanks a million!

You can get the "bolts" separately and as long as you have some bolt left to put some tools on, you should be able to get out the part that is still stuck in there.
Nuts that are fastened too tight, can cause the filter housing to crack… greetingz,
