This '86 190E has a 5-speed, and it gets a light, not too loud, clunk when letting out the clutch and gears engage sometimes. I notice it when accelerating. Also, when the car is loaded (3 passengers and 1 driver, maybe 700 lbs.) I notice that car yaws or twists a very small amount when letting out the clutch accelerating up to highway speeds. Are these symptoms of anything serious? Are they related?
Both seem to come from the rear end. |

From your description of the problem, I would have the links in the rear suspension checked. If the bushings are worn it can cause what you are experiencing. |

Had an '84 5-speed with clunking like you describe. Turned out to be one of the rear shock's top mounting bolts was loose. Go in through the trunk and check the fasteners.
