A little help and advice needed..94 E320
Ok here's the deal. I have a 94 E320 sedan with 64k on the clock. She has been great and I bought her with 44k. I own the car for about a year and a half. I must admit I have put the hammer down on her a few times over the last year reaching some high rate of speed, but in general I take care of her well.
As of now I have invested money over and above my acquisition cost. I have repaired the tensioner and belts and recently the blower motor, AC still doesn't blow really cold. Anyway, recently I went in for some new tires and the mechanic tells me I have two blown motor mounts in the front of the car. Also over the last few months the car has been tougher to start. I never have had to crank an any Benz I have owed previously and now it acts like some of our staff at work....Shows up and is there, but it works when it wants to and blows hot and cold whenever.... In the morning it starts right up and I'm off..leave work for a coffee 1 hr later...nothing, no start...30 minutes later, it cranks up??? I have been advised, through the forum, that it could be the regulator..reading on at some other posts I have read it could also turn into a big mess. Little things now are starting to come up with the car. Now at a low idle I hear a rattle on the back deck..perhaps due to the blown mounts??? Advice needed...I love the lines of the car, I love the hammer 124 look and I love the way the car rips around for a little 6....but...where do I cut off repairs. Do I abandon ship now and step it up because I am sure I will have to invest if i buy just another older MB. My car value is not great, I do like the car. I am thinking on an older 420sel or 560sec. I hear bad things on the 124 like timing chains repairs coming..I do not have room for more then one car. Here's what I can desire to create with what I have; Admittedly I do like this also; Choices, Choices....

Hammertime, check the spark plugs and ignition wires. It's likely that the spark plugs need replacing and possibly the ignition wires if they're original. Definitely replace the worn out motor mounts ... routine maintenance ... no motor mounts will last forever.

Do a search and learn how to build a code reader and to read fault codes. Your car has a very strong timing chain - probably the best there is - shouldn't be a problem at 64k.
