190e info
Hey guysI was looking at a 1992 MB 190e, and was wondering what the goods and bads of this model. I'm currently driving a 1994 MB e-420 and its fast will this even be remotely like the e-420? And also im going tobe modding it (not exensivly but some mods) like ill want a body kit, maybe some new lowered suspension ect. Would this be a good MB model to do this on? Please I need all info you have on this car. what is the ride like? Likie my e420 is sooooo quit and smooth would this have the sane ride and quitnes?

Well, obviously the car is much smaller than your 420 and not as fast. The 2.6 is what most people are looking for. Overall it is a pretty quiet car typical M Benz......

yeah its a 1992 190e 2.6 120k miles and $4,995. i really love this model andim fully aware that it is smaller. Just one question is it faster then a honda civic? Likewhatkind of performance diff is there between the e420 and the 190e 2.6? e420=275hp 190e=???hp. What are the hp ratings on the 190e?

I think the 2.6 has about 189hp. I had one and it was a good ride, easy to work on, and lots of options on mods and body kits, etc. Not as many options for the W124 300E cars from what I found. it is a nice fun car, but dont expect to drag race other cars with it. It s a great car easy to work on, but the engine is what it is and most available mods do not really add much to the engine. It is designed to ride sweet on the highway at 70-90 miles per hour, not race Hondas.

What do you think of the 1992ish 300ce coup? it looks good and sporty. Really all im wanting is a MB under $6000 thats extremly sporty. but I would prefer a v6 or v8.

The 1993 (last year of production) 2.6L 190E sold in the US had 158 bhp.
It was also the last of the smaller Mercedes sedans to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission in the US. If you can find one of them, it would certainly add to the "sportiness." In addition to the manual transmission models, MBUSA also offered "Sportline" and "Limited Edition" models which didn't offer any increased engine performance, did offer some modest suspension tuning and interior upgrades. |

Rarer still is an 86-87 16 valve. 2.6 has 158 hps. 16 valve 190 has 167 from 4 cylinder and close ratio 5 speed manual trans. I happen to own a 16 valve 190 and absolutely love driving when I can. Its out of commision at the moment with ignition problems.
