380sec that wont go

Howdy. I have a 1983 380sec with approx 175k. in the last few weeks it has started to have a very hard time accelerating from a stop or after sudden braking. it seems to be more apparent when its cold. when you step on the pedal it has a real delay in moving. I noticed that the tach is not going up to what seems the pedal is going down.
also it seems to be running very rich. even to the point of smelling like raw fuel at the rear and leaving a soot trail on the drive.
Just and FYI we are in the hills of Nevada at about 3500 feet.
thank you
NevadaBob

I think you need to post this in the technical area, Nevada.
