I went to my local Advance Auto store (was Western Auto) and saw that they sell a Sylvania headlight bulb they call Extra Vision or something like that, and lists as 9004XV I believe. Said to be 20% brighter. (They also sell a "Cool Blue" bulb which is supposed to mimic the look of a high-intensity bulb.) They cost about $11.00 each.
Has anyone tried these? Are they in fact brighter? I'd like to get a bit better output but am not interested in going the Euro route. I've read negative things about the PIAA bulbs, which look "whiter" or "bluer" but actually put out less light.

It probably couldn't hurt to try...
..considering they're so cheap, it's worth a try.
You'd probably get brighter light just by replacing your 7 year old stock bulbs. Also check out this site for your 9004 (400E stock bulb) replacement bulbs: http://catalog.com/susq/hella/bulbs.htm Good luck ~Paul |

Not Sylvania
Brothers of The Benz
My 9004 bulbs are 100/80 watt. I've rewired the supply source using two double contact headlight relays and 8 gauge lead wire. They are bright but don't have the lens formation of the Euro headlights. If you are intersted, I can e-mail the bill of material and instructions for this modification. After rewiring and should you change to Euros, this will really make them shine. Happy Trails Beep Beep from The Spiderman in Houston!!! |
