Fuel Economy Boost?

Is there anything I can do to the 560 to increase gas mileage? It gets about 13-14 mpg.

Thanks, Dave.

Other than a really good tune-up, making sure the engine is operating as well as intended, there is nothing you can do about fuel economy.
Don't go buying some snake-oil remedy, guranteed to increase fuel economy by 100%.

Put a chunk of 2 X 4 between the pedal and the floor.

Other than that just the basics, avoid jackrabit starts, add an extra 2 pounds of air to the tires, avoid long warmups, keep it in tune with clean air filter, reduce your highway speed, etc.

All counterintuitive when you have a V8.

It's difficult

When you have a very healthy engine like that 5.6 V8, no lockup converter and only a four speed rather slushy transmission, mileage is going to be bad. Changing the differential to one with a slightly lower number might give a mile or 2 per gallon relief in exchange for less exciting performance. Also, keep those tires aired up to the maximum allowable limit. And that piece of 2x4 under the pedal will help, no doubt. With a carburetor, a little vacuum loss would always be good for a little gain, but I don't know if it is of any value with fuel injection.

Thumbs up

I got 13.2 city in mine.

Have you checked the fuel delivery on the CIS system? O2 sensor?

I'm certain the Euro exhaust system would yield some economy as it brings efficiency along with. But I'm doing that simply for the grin factor.
