Just received new flex disc
I just received a new flex disc for my 1984 190d 5 speed. It doesn't look the same as the shot one I'm about to remove. Will this make a difference?
Thanks, Hugh Smith, Sr. |

The manual transmission flex disc is different than the one for the automatic transmission.
You might want to verify your part number. When I replaced the front flex disc on my '93 190E 2.3, the new one from MB parts appeared to look like the old one, although the old one was pretty shredded. Dave

A customer of ours brought a flex disk he had acquired off of E-bay, and we installed it for him. It lasted just under 200 miles,. He allowed me to get all original MB parts after that.

if it doesnt look the same, be sure to look and measure the bolt pattern to verify. There is a change of flex disk design at a VIN cut off and you could have gotten the wrong one, many parts places dont realize that within a year run that are a few different flex disks and you have to check VIN. They do use different style bolt heads alot, no rhyme or reason on which they will give you with the aftermarket flex disks, but they all work. I have had to buy a new socket set to use the bolts I was give before, internal funky star bolt sockets are in my tool box now.
I was sold the wrong one once also, they even knew the cut off and intended to send the correct one and it still got messed up. For flex disks and center bearings I get them from the dealer due to the VIN issues. Plus For the flex disks, I paid the same price at my dealer as I did at the mail order place, got OEM quality and it was th correct part to boot. Always chcek the dealer on cost, occasionally their cost is the same or even better and you get MB parts!

Flex disc quality
Wouldn't Blisten brand be a good flex disc?

I dont have any issues with any of the aftermarket parts, Bilstein should be fine as long as the disk is the correct one.

Didn't mean that anything but original MB was junk, it's just that you have to be very careful as there is a lot of crap floating around out there. I would trust anything from Fastlane for sure, as I have bought more than a few items from them.
