Destin/Fort Walton Beach, FL---GOOD INDIE MB MECHANIC...FINALLY!!!

Came across a former Quality Imports Mercedes mechanic who is in the process of setting up a shop. He's currently working out of his home while getting the plans for his shop pushed through the zoning commission and putting up his shop, which will be behind Momma Rosa's Pizza on Beal Pwky near the Fairgrounds. I expect he will be fully up and running sometime in March.

His name is John Stine. Good guy. Super sharp and will be set up to work on just about every Mercedes. Lots of test equipment, etc. Won't be a one-horse operation. When he's ready to take on more work, I'll put his contact information out here. If you are in this area and have an emergency, PM me and I'll put you in contact with him. Or, you might just look in the local phone directory.

Those who are familiar with me know the thrash I've been going through for about six months now in trying to fix a stumbling problem on start-up in my SL. It's a Euro, but he's relishing the challenge. The car has some "issues" but it looks like they are about to be cleared. John diagnosed a fuel distributor problem, warmup regulator not warming up, clogged (new) injectors, and other "stuff". There were also major vacuum issues, which are being resolved.

John is a perfectionist. He's removed everything down to and including the intake manifolds and rebuilding it all--including a couple hard to find vacuum switches and fittings.

When I get the car back, it will have completely rebuilt fuel and vacuum systems--as well as all the stuff done previously (control arm bushings/tie rods/shocks/radiator/brakes and rotors, etc. Should be a lot of good trouble free miles ahead.

At any rate, it's good to have a first class independent certified Mercedes mechanic back in the area.

Cheers!
