As far as the turbo-chargers are concerned, why take a chance??? If one of those things lets go at 30,000 RPM, it'll need more than just a new turbo! Like I said previously, the insurance companies don't want to become the warranty providers. The majority of adjusters I've dealt with realize they don't have the technical knowledge of factory-trained dealer employees, but they do have more experience in dealing with automotive water-damage issues. They probably see ten "flood cars" or more, for every one that I see. They don't want to take chances any more than I do. |

How deep was the puddle? Where is the air intake? On most MB's that I have seen they are near the upper cross member so kind of high, must have been one heck of a puddle.

That should certainly take care of more than a few of some fortunate Mercedes Benz Service Adviser's monthly boat payments... Don't they work on 100% commission or something?

I can't speak for other dealerships, but mine pays S.A.'s and Shop Foremen a monthly bonus based on the amount of labor revenue (warranty and customer pay), that the department produces. To ensure fairness, all labor times are taken directly from the MB Time Guide.

How much of that 100 hours of estimated labor was actually used?

The actual time spent on the job was about one-hundred and fifteen hours.

I'm surprsed they didn't just total it given the fact that if the water was up that high I'll bet there will be some rust damage in a year or 2

That's a good point. I wonder if there was water inside the car?

The car made it through the puddle, so there was no water inside the car. As far as the rust issue is concerned, I doubt this will become a problem in the future. The underside of the car probably didn't get any wetter than it normally would during typical wet weather driving conditions.
