Smile Door window reset question

I have a 1998 Mercedes 500SL. Just replaced the car battery and I need to reset the automatic side door windows that move up & down as the door is opened and closed. The automatic movement is about 1/4" for proper glass/rubber seal. How do I reset this electronic feature? I do not have the owners manual.

Check your owners manual. Mine give a list of things to be reset after battery replacement, and how to do each. Chuck

He said he didn't have the owners manual.

I would suggest going to an MB dealer or shop. They should show you how to do it gratis. While you are there, order a manual.

If I remember right, lower each window and then raise the window with the switch pushed all the way down to the second detent.. That should reprogram the window.

You should try the search feature. This has been answered many times. I just answered the same question last night for another poster. You hold the button "halfway".

I just had to do this to my 1998 wagon.

1) Press the UP one click (not all the way down) hold for a second.
2) Press the DOWN one click (not all the way down) and hold until the window is down.
3) Press the DOWN all the way and hold for a second.

Then try the Express Up feature - worked for my wagon.
