Kompressor Clutch Noise at low speed

2000 C230 K, I have a ticking noise coming from the Kompressor Clutch. With the hood up, and you slowley raise the engine speed, the clutch clicks once and emgages at about 2200RPM as it should, as you lower speed it drops out as it gets closer to idle, again, no noise.

When driving in forward or reverse, as soon as the car gets to about 5mph (creaping in traffic) I hear a tick tick tick that is continuous untol the car gets up to about 10 mph. Does the same noise when slowing down, comes in about 10mph, and stops just as the car is coming to a stop.

I've read through many posts about noise, and mine seems different. I have the shock thing on the other belt, but there is no shock on the Kompressor belt. I removed both belts and replaced them, driving the car with each removed to determine that it's the clutch for the Kompressor.

Any ideas on this? It see,s speed sensitive, any one explain when the computer turns the Kompressor on? I know it's on constantly above 2200 RPM and it does with no noise. Is the clutch something I could take apart myself and try to clean out? Could the OVP relay or something be dirty and clicking?

Thanks folks for all your help. Chuck

Go to club202.com and search for the recent thread on replacing a supercharger. Good info on replacing the supercharger and some clutch discussion too.
