2003 SLK32 AMG supercharger noise

My 2003 SLK32 AMG supercharger has started to make some serious noise all the time. The car has 77,000 miles on it. The mercedes dealership replaced the supercharger idler pully in hopes to fix the problem, but was not successful. After arguing with them about the $170 charge for trying a pulley and taking it off, I have decided to troubleshoot the problem myself.

Is there a good way to isolate the supercharger bearing noise from supercharger clutch noise? It is not obvious using the screwdriver listening method. Is there a way to manually activate and deactivate the supercharger clutch?

The noise seems to be louder to me when listening the idler pully mount on the supercharger, but that may be due to the shape of that shaft and not actually due to the noise.

I have a 2000 C230K, and am having some clutch noise. If you open the hood and slowly raise the engine speed, it should kick in and engage at 2200 RPM. I've read posts from people who jumpered 12vdc to the clutch. If you raise and lower engine speed you can get it to pick up and drop out. I removed the belts and replaced them one at a time, and found out that mine was due to the clutch itself, not the kompressor. I found this link if you need to replace the kompressor:

http://www.canadiansupercharger.com/benz_supercharger.html

I wouldn't delay it too long, if you do a search on Kompressor Clutch you'll read about drastic failures, and there are pictures of some busted up cars.

I'll be in Atlanta Sunday afterrnoon to watch the Falcons/Seahawks if you need a hand, or want to see how mine acts. Chuck

I was able to narrow the problem down to the supercharger clutch by activating the clutch with 12V from the battery. Does anyone get the supercharger clutch part number for me for a 2003 SLK32 AMG?
