Does a '94 S320 have OBDII? If so, where?

From the searches here it seem that '95+ has OBDII, but I didn't see anything about a '94. I was working on the car last night and realized that when the key is turned to on, neither the CE light bulb nor SRS light illuminated. I would imagine this is for a reason, of course. Anyways, I took the washer fluid and one other socket (can't remember which one but it's one that's not important at all) and put them in respective slots. Now the lights illuminate when the key is turned to position 2. The car doesn't have a tranny or exhaust right now because the trans. is out being rebuilt as we speak. I assume the CE light will come on once the car is finally running. I have an OBDII scanner at work and would like to read the codes but can't find the plug. It's not under the steering wheel like newer American cars. Does my car have OBDII and where is it?

Thanks a lot,
David

Supposedly your car is OBDII "compliant" but not fully compliant, whatever that means. ( http://www.obdii.com/connector.html , then down 2 pages for list of pre-1996 cars) If so you must have an OBDII plug which must be within 3 feet of the driver, probably under the dash (flashlight and a mirror). Some cars were guinea pigs before the 1/1/96 requirement. But as Arthur said it's also fully OBDI on the 38 pin and that would seem like the way to go.

That chassis is capable of both Flash and Digital storage/retrieve ..but to be Mandated Compliant, it has to have the OBD2 access plug..it does not.
OBD2 is Digital only.

That answers that - so 95 S320s, SL320s and C280s have the OBDII plug?

I am not exactly sure when the change came, but I do know that all OBD2 vehicles have to have the OBD2 Emmission System sticker under the hood. If it still has the OBD1 sticker , it is not compliant. Having the 38 pin connector does not mean the car is 1 or 2 .. the 16 pin/under dash ISO one does.

Let me get this straight then, my car does not have the plug for an OBDII scanner? Where is the OBDI plug at under the hood?

Thanks
David

This is what you are looking for...it may be further back towards firewall, passenger side, on your model.
