I would only get this car if you can get it starmarked, get a PPI and you can review the service history.
Many of the first year W211 have re-occuring problems and the service history from a MB dealer will show how often the car has been serviced.

Yes they will provide carfax reports and service history. uhm ill look into the whole starmark or whatever. My MB dealer is very small and this car there is priced $7k more. I agree with you when you say "buy a mint 1994ish E500" i would love it if he got that, im not a big fan of new MB. im really starting to get into MB cars like 1984 MB 500SL and i really like the a 1992 190E evoII. but yeah he doesnt really know what aa good car is. Hes only drove honda/toyota types and huge SUVs so this is his 1st nice car....exept for his 1994 E420 (thats mine now, i got the better end of the deal). soyeah, anymore comments?

The reason why the car at the MB dealer is more is because its probably a better example. Dealers only keep the good ones and whole sale the rest.
