W126 E300 wont start 1998 uk spec

W126 E300 auto wont start 1988 uk spec (i dont know how to fix the title from 1998 to 1988)

Hello ive been loking through various threads to try and solve the problem, bellow i will describe the symptons and the steps i have already taken.
I bought the car in march as a runner which require a little work only the exhaust manifold gasket and track rod ends,
The car was laid up till from march 2007 (when it was running but ocasional hard starting) untill december 2007 when i tried to start it to finnish the project.

this is what i have done so far in order in all cases the air temp was between 1 and 8 degrees centigrade in scotland

1. the fuel gauge read empty so i put 15 litres of fresh fuel in the tank
2. the battery was flat so i used jump leads from another car to try and start up without succes tried for a long time over the course of three nights.
3. Charged battery fully battery in fully condition for all further tests
4. I suspected a fuel injector blockage so i added injector cleaner to the fuel this the car did not start or even try
5.i tried using easy start ether the car did not run.
6. I removed and cleaned the spark plugs and turned engine over suspecting flodding after tryng to start the car for a couple of minutes i got a few cylenders firing then eventualy the engine ran and quite smoothly, with premature delight i let the car idle and afetr around 2 minutes it splutterd and died, i tried to resart the engine with no joy
7. tried sevral times to clear supected flooding as above without a single cylynder firing
8. tried using easy start again no joy
9. at each step from now on all plugs were removed (spark checked on all cylynders and looked okay) and car barred over with fuel pump relay dissengaged to rule out flooding.
10. After finding some posts on other suggesting fuel pump/fuel relay problems i checked these out all apeared to be fine fuel pump presurises on ignition and relay clicks at same time. car would not run (fuel confirmed later by injector removal)
11. more posts sugested the overload protector when i checked this one of the two 10 amp fuses was blown , i replaced this with no luck the car would still not even splutter, Subsequently i checked this fuse through out the later tests and it was ok.
12. many posts sugested that even though you can see a sprk it may be weak and not fire in the cylynder under compression recomending replacing the coil. so i fitted a brand new coil and remved and claned the distributer there was no evidence of arking or moisture, the engine still would not start
13. i now suspected bad compression tested all cylynders with the following results cylynders 1; 150 2; 140 3; 145 4; 147 5;150 6; 145 ...... to me this seems goo for 20 year old engine
14. Called in mechanic freind to ivestigate the injection system removed cold start injector found to have good spray pattern , then tried most of the above again before the snow and cold chased us inside. the engine has not even splutered at all since it ran at step six all leads are in the correct order. i have batery fuel spark compresion and air surley the engine should at least try.
15. i changed the plugs tonight and the engine seemed to fire only exhaust smoke puffed out of the intake then it fired beter 1 or 2 times but would not run .

I have tried to be as thorough as possible to let you know what i have aredy tested, any help would be greatly appreciated as the car must be moved very soon and i dont want to have to get rid of it but may have to as i have nowhere else to store it .
help apreciated cheers james

i seems maybe either your injector or chain timing is out, so the fuel doesnt meet the spark from the ignition system. just a thought

I beleive this model runs a type of constant fuel injection regulated by a mechanical air flow meter fuel being deliverd presurised by the pump and constantly sprayed into the inlet manifold in much the same way as a carbuerettor but deliverd to each manifold brach.
thanks james

There is no such thing as a 1998 W126, or a 1998 W126 E300

What kind of car do you have? Where do you live (fix your profile please)
