2003 E320 Engine cover - how to remove?
Brand new to the MB world and this is my very first post. I probably shouldn't admit this here, but I've been driving and maintaining a Jaguar for the past 20 years.
Please, someone, anyone -- How do you/does one remove the molded plastic black/silver cowling on top of the motor in order to replace the air filters?? I've got the front piece off, easily enough, but I don't see any clips or other fasteners that secure the air filter covers on each side. Talk about loss of a kingdom for want of a nail.... Appreciate any assistance. |

Answering my own question. Duh! I discovered the clips. For others and posterity, the ticket is to disconnect the air intake cowls, take off the front piece (the one which surrounds the oil filler cap) and then lift the whole unit up. It is connected on the top of the block by spring tension type clips. Take it to the bench and flip it over and have at it. The filters are secured by screws on the underside.
