95 c280 ce codes p4011& p0400 help
A little help getting started I would like to know where to start troubleshooting thses codes.I think they are related where are these vacum and air lines located so I can check them.I don't have access to a lift and have a spinal injury so crawling underneath is limiting me.I will try the basics before hand or get help just ,need to start. Thanks Semper Fi

You can lookup the codes here for your car: http://202tech.mkosonen.com/howto/enginecodes.html
P0400 - Behind the black cover on front of engine over the belts. On the left side is the EGR switchover valve. The hoses connected to it is probably cracked or broken off normally OR the unit itself is bad. If not this: then it is probably a blocked EGR pipe at the end under the intake manifold. P0411 - Check your smog pump operation. But this code went away for me once I fixed the above code. Good luck.. |

I think you have a typo on the P4011 code . Anyway, the vac line Scotty mentioned [ under front cover] is a white plastic line..they crack from engine heat and should be replaced with a rubber one. That line is a COMMON engine vac.feed for both the AIR system and the EGR system Switch-Over-Valves. So, if that vac line is broken. it would bring on BOTH those codes . One code is EGR and the other is AIR system..codes P0400 and P0411..

The p0411 secondary air injection incorrect flow and the p0400 egr flow malfunction was the verbage for the readout. The scanner only went as low as 96 so maybe that's the difference.I will check the hose and which one is the egr the fron or rear facing the engine.I think its the rear left side facinfg the engine. Thanks for the help
