The sunroof on my sec is stuck closed. From what I can tell you have to open the roof and pull out the liner to access the roof but I cannot open the roof, and yes I have tried to turn the nut in the trunk to no avail, it is stuck, although you can hear the motor working.

Mine did the same thing. I removed the motor and pulled out the gear which was stripped. With the cable free from the gears I could manually open the sunroof. I replaced the cable and motor (I got a good deal on eBay for the motor).
