Waterfilled footwell

Hi,

While giving my T124 a good clean inside the other day I found that underneath the fitted foam carpet on the drivers side was soapy water. There was also a little wet by the rear left seat bolts by the floor. This must have been there from a week before when I washed the car especially concentrating on the roof. The passenger well was dry as a bone

Is this likely to have come via the sunroof and if so how can I sort this out?

Thanks Toby.

Sunroof drain hose

The sunroof drains pass thru the pillars to exit at the bottom of the fender just before the door. If the drain hose is clogged or worse has become disconnected, its the source of the leak.

Clogs can be cleared by use of a slender wire run down the hose or you could try compressed air (LOW PSI)

Disconnections mean removal of the headliner and repair.

Could be worse

Ever try and install a new sunroof cable?

Most likely the water entered through the windshield seal. It's very common, at least w/all w123 cars and probably w124s, to leak this way. Because the rear footwells are lower than the fronts, the water runs from front to back under the carpets.

It could also be...

The condenser drains that run down each side the center console. They are very common to deteriorate...

Do a search...
