W140 rear seat reading and courtesy lights stay on
I've search the site and cannot find any info on them. That said, here are my sypmtoms:
Two reading lights (the ones with the push buttons) and the center dome light in the read seat came on this morning when I opened the driver's side rear door and now will not go off. I toggled the switch in the overhead console. I opened and shut the door repeatedly. I tried the buttons in the back. I removed the bulbs from the two reading lamps, but cannot figure out how to get the center dome light fixture out. My first guess is that the switch in the driver's side back door that turns the lights on when the door is open is stuck in the 'door open' position. I will work on that when I get home. How do I remove the bulb from the rear dome fixture? Update: OK, I just did the easy fix for today. I duct taped the switch in the door closed position. The switch is a little wobbly. I'll either need a new one or I need to do something to make it stay in place. It looks like it was sliding up to a gap between the metal of the door and the leather door panel. -Jim (It was a bright drive in to work today. ![]()
