M116/M117 Distributor differences?

Would the distributor be the same on an M116 420 engine and an M117 500 engine of similar vintage?

Cheers, Martin

Anyone got any idea? I'd guess they are the same, but just want to know for sure!

If they are both CIS E cars I'd wager yes.. They should both have the 'large' distributor where the early cars have the 'small' one.

Hmm thats good to know I was about to inquire if a 560 distributor is the same as the one on a 500 with CIS-E. Not sure if different engine sizes required different distributors.

yes they are the same because the crank pick up and the ignition module decide everything else.
