Troubleshoot power window issue?
The rear driver's side door window in my '91 190E 2.6 won't operate. I opened up the door and saw the tension wire that raises/lowers the window was broken. I removed the entire assembly and replaced it with one that was working on another 190E I own. After installation, it still won't move. All the other windows work and the plugs/wires/switches look okay to me. I've replaced the switches with ones I know work, but still nothing. What steps would you take to track down the problem?

Have someone operate the switch while you test the wires going to the window motor for power. If you are trying this without the door switch installed, that switch needs to be plugged in too. If that works, then use a battery and jumper wires to run power nad ground direct to the window motor. A common problem, especially on 201s, is cracking inside that rubber conduit in the door jamb area (where the wires run from the chassis to the door)

Thanks. I took your advice, but in the process I discovered where someone cut all 4 wires! I can't believe they all 4 broke due to wear in the exact same spot. Crazy! I connect them back and all is well
