That seems a bit steep. By far the hardest part of the job is removing and installing the interior door panel. The regulator should cost well under $100 for the part.

next window regulatoer question
what is envolved with changing this item? Is it simply resetting the window in the rail and putting the motor inplace?
I know that most MB repairs are designed into the car for simplicity. Is this the case with the window? |

From the catalog picture, it looks very similar to mine. On my car I started with the window up, drilled out the rivets, 4 I think, disconnected the connector from the motor, slid out the window "cam" at the top, then pulled the regulator out. Then you swap the motor which was 3 Torx screws on mine as I recall, then reinstall using new rivets from the dealer for about a dollar each. You need a large rivet gun for this, they are extra large size rivets. I imagine if you do a search you should find some instructions also.

I let the dealer do the job. I wasnt sure how difficult it would be to remove the glass from the its mount and the need to drive the car this car nevre stops running long enough to get cold.
The dealer took the car in at 9 am and I picked it up at 2 pm, same day walk in service. I have to say the service was at my convenince. I got what I paid for, fast gauranteed repair. I was suprised they didnt wash the window. James Motor Co. Lexington ,KY It was 125 for the reglator and 2 hours labor. Thanks for the details on DIY. Next one Ill be doin. |
