I'm back...

Since the last post I have replaced the OVP and the wiring harness, and some vaccuum hose. After puttng the battery back in, it fired up great, no check engine light, no engine stumble!

After driving back to the local Benz dealer to get the radio code, the CE light came back on, and the car started doing the stumble at idle again.

I checked the DM, pin 8, and pin 14 and pin eight had LOTS of codes set, I decided to reset them all to see what would happen after a little drive.

The DM and 14 are still clear, but pin 8 has code 3 and 4 set.

Two other things to note;
I am hearing what sounds to be a noisey lifter ticking but it seems to be coming from the intake side of the engine compartment and not from under the valve cover.
I am notn 100% sure that the connectors on the front of the head are on correctly. I know the brown wire is on ok, and I am pretty sure that the right angle connector goes on the 'top' plug, but I'm not sure about the other two. Right now I have the 'longest wire' going to the furthest plug near the red vaccuum connection, and the other straight plug going to the plug the is attached to the engine lift bracket.
