Ok guys, this is what has been going on. I tested for a battery drain and got a reading of 28.5; I took out fuse #9, the one that blew before, and tested again and didn't get a reading. I attached the leads and tested the fully charged battery and got 12.97V last evening. I checked the battery this morning and it had held the charge. I drove it to work without fuse #9, (no dome light, no clock, and no radio-its in lock mode anyway). I am going the check the dome light, then radio for a faulty ground hopefully this weekend. I checked the switch in the door with some help and it was ok. In the mean time I will drive without fuse #9, will this cause any problems? Does anyone have any ideas on tracking down a problem in a circuit? I have all the books that came with the car plus one I purchased and they have some pretty intense wiring diagrams. Well thanks again for all the help.

Now disconnect the power lead to the rear of the radio. Put fuse #9 back in and see if it still draws the battery down overnight. If not something in the radio is staying on and the problem would be in the radio..

I don't know what fuse, but the alarm system can also be a problem / phantom drain, and your radio going into lock mode is an interesting clue. If you need to unplug the alarm system, roll down the carpet in the passenger footwell, remove the screw and plastic panel from beneath, and unplug the small box marked BECKER. Don't unplug anything red, that would be airbag (but I don't think there's anything there, the controller is under the radio).

Hi everyone, well, I took disconnected the power to the radio as platt-deutsch instructed and but fuse 9 back in and opened the drivers side door, no dome light. I closed the door and opened the passenger door and the dome light went on and would not go out so I pulled the fuse again. Does this mean that the radio is ok? When I first pulled the radio I noticed what looked like the ground was not pluged in so I pluged it in and put everything back together which gave me constant noise from the radio speakers. The radio had a sticker on it that said it was remanufactured. I don't know where to look now and I am getting frustrated. Thanks for any help.
