Did you get a diagnosis from Enrique yet today?

Hi Guys! Yes. He's wonderful! I dropped my car on Mon. and got my car back yesterday (Tue). He had to open the valve cap and fixed the timing. He also changed the ff: rear brake pads, flex disc, transmission mounts. He did a transmission service. No more rough idle and shaking of the car. He suggested to return the car to my previous mechanic to get the timing fixed, but as you can tell I opted to get all the work done at Mr. MB Motors. He also suggested to get oil change every 8K instead of 10K since my car is old. That's all folk, hopefully nothing else breaks......

Excellent.

Front and rear break pads, flex discs and transmission mounts are all wear items.

I wonder what is meant by opened the "valve cap".....

In your first post, you mentioned that the dealer quote was around $1,700.00.

Do you mind telling us what the total of the repairs were?

Also, your W202 chasses C230 is widely considered to be one of the most reliable and trouble-free Mercedes to own. It is definitely one to keep for the long haul.

He probably removed the valve cover and corrected the engine timing.

He did remove the valve cover and adjusted the timing. Overall, I spent $997. Not bad for a peace of mind. It drives like a dream now. No more annoying "shaking" while the car is on idle. It's to know that this can hopefully last me a long time. He recommended an oil change every 8K miles. The 101 freeway is pretty awful, but I guess, in exchange for a good service, it's worth the drive!

I'm open to any suggestions in keeping this car running great for years to come......

Just follow his recommended oil change interval and have the car looked over by him when you bring it in. He knows what to do.

Furthermore, all of the maintenance on your car is performed in mileage increments, with two exceptions, which are performed in time intervals. Both are important:

1. radiator coolant - needs to be replaced every three (3) years.

2. brake fluid - needs to be replaced every two (2) years.

I think you should ask Enrique for any further suggestions. After all, he's the guy who took care of your problem. From what I've read about him in the Shop Forum, he knows how to fix cars, treats people right, and charges a fair price. You can't do any better than that.

Now, what about the shop that worked on your car to begin with? I think they have some explaining to do, and they probably owe you some money. Let us know what happens.

Tell me about it!

I live off of the 57 freeway, and it is a 51 mile drive from my house. I take the 57 North to the 210 West, which turns into the 134, which turns into the 101.

It's a helluva drive, but I only have to make the drive twice a year.
