1990 560 SEL Front Power Seats Not Working

I just purchased a beautiful 1990 560 SEL and everything works perfect in it except the front power seats for some reason. I thought at first it was just a fuse, but it doesn't look like the fuse is blown. Any other ideas?

Switches get gummed up and need cleaning - there is a lot of information on the forum on how to clean. Also - start car open door and see if switch works. If yes its a common diode replacement.

Ok,

So I have decided that more then likely it is not the switched gummed up (I am sure they could use cleaning though) because the telescoping steering wheel does not work along with both the front seats. I have been told they they are on the same power supply.

So …. This is what I have done:

--Changed all the fuses (A,B,C and D) for the seats.

--Tried moving the switches with the door open

--Sprayed a bit of cleaner into the switched to see if they budge

None of them worked.

Since I am about positive it is the power supply, what other options do I have?

I have heard “relays” mentioned … are these the boxes in the fuse box, and how can I figure out if this may be the problem?

Also, is there any other things that could make this happen?

Everything works on the car except the power front seats and the telescoping steering wheel.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Joey

In the fuse box there is a relay which controls the power to front seats.. what happens is if you open the relay you will find bad soldier joints.. just soldier the joints should solve your problem.. you should have a chart in your fuse box that tells you what fusses/ relays does..

Replaced fuses and the relay. Still not working? Is there more then one relay for the seats or any other suggestions?

Do you know how to use a wiring diagram? If you choose to understand how to fix this rather than throwing parts and time at it, I would suggest getting a diagram and finding your problem. This is about as simple a system as there is. Power starts at the battery positive and ends at the battery negative. In between is a system of fuses, connections, relay/s, switches, connections, and motors and wiring. Start at the beginning and follow the path.
