Upgrading Alternator

I just did a quick seach and found some threads that mentioned that an aftermarket alternator wouldn't damage anything in the vehicle (1989 w124), but I was wondering if there was a reccomendation for an aftermarket alt.

Reason for this question - upgrading the audio side of the car and it's going to need something a bit more serious than the stock alternator.

Thanks for any response

I think you'll find that most upgrades to the W124 and W201 alternators involve the W140 chassis alternators.

Is it really that much of an amperage boost from two OEM Mercedes alternators?

You'll be going from 80A to 150A . . . but with only one alternator, not two.
