My wifes' 82 380sl odometer stopped working and I have no experience with benz products. But the clusters look the same to me. The speedo works fine , but ododmeter quit, along with the trip meter. Will the 83 assembly fit an 82 380sl? Sorry its an out of an 84 sl not an 83 .

I would not try a used one. The plastic gears wear out and the replacement used unit you're considering is already 24 years old. I've had several speedos and odometers rebuilt at reasonable cost and they look great. I've used these folks with excellent results:
