1989 300CE Check Engine Light Code 5
The check engine has come on and i get a code 5. I understand that the specific code points to a faulty egr valve, but im sure that there is no egr valve on my CE, or am i mistaken? I went ahead and changed the o2 sensor, cleared the code and the light has come back on. Any suggestions on how to proceed with this problem..can it be the catalytic converter?
Thanks Freddy |

Code 5 on that car is for a NON sweeping O2 sensor.
Possibly a misadjusted fuel mixture not allowing the O2 sensor to cycle. I would start by adjusting the fuel mixture, or having it checked & adjusted.

greatly appreciate your help.
on another note, the door seals on my coupe are no good and the previous owner neglected to rectify the problem. I believe that water did get inside the car since my seat does not come back fully, rear window does not work, seat belt extender and vacuum system as well. What would be the starting point in solving this problems, im almost sure that its an electrical problem due to the water. Thanks |
