EGR Valve
What problems would a bad EGR valve cause? I know mine's stuck but I don't have $245 for a new one right now! Can it be by-passed? Can an old one be repaired? Are junk yard units likely to be usable?
Any help is appreciated!

They are used as an emission related part. If it fails in the open position, you will have a vacuum leak into the intake that will make it run poorly at idle.
If it fails in the closed position, well, mmmmmmm, well, you might not pass smog?

Ok... so I guess the next logical question is how do I know which way it failed? I've got a pretty rough idle... don't know about smog, we don't have to test here in FL. The car runs quite hot too... don't know if that's related at all.
Thanks for your help!!!
