I was fortunate enough to recently purchase an '04 SL500 equipped with among other things, the Sport Package with only 17,049 miles on it from my local MB dealer. I was told that the daytime running lights feature consists of the Xenon headlights being on whenever the vehicle is operating rather than bulbs of lower illumination as on a model without Xenon lights. I have the option of disabling the daytime feature, but I'd rather not. Is this information correct? Will it harm the Xenon bulbs in any way or cause them to need replacement prematurely? I've only had the car two weeks and I'm still learning about it so any help would be most welcome. Thanks, Doc.

If you have a US model your automatic feature is selectable. Go to your owners manual page 119 and 140.
