Lock problems, Help

A few days ago I posted a question about the trunck lock on my 85 300SD and got no responses. Since then I managed to install the new lock, but now it does not function properly. Of the three positions that the key should go in I have two. I can not activate the central locking system from the trunk. I can only unlock the trunck when it has been locked from the door lock. I purchased the new lock from MB dealer, keyed to my car. I think that the arm that connects to the alarm system should operat in the down positions but my new lock has this arm working in the upper positions which get in the way of the latch. Does anyone know of a modification that is necessary to make this work? Thanks again for any help.

I remember installing one of these and it was very difficult. I'd bet that you have a rod that is off or an actuator problem. Get in there and see if you can figure it out. IF not, you may have to take to a goooood tech.

I am having a similar problem. The key turns both ways and seems to go past the stop when going right. I can hear the mechanism move and the doors both lock and unlock but you cannot get the truck latch to release, therefore the trunk will not open. I do not see any way to remove the lock from the outside. I looked briefly at my other car and found only the adjustment for the latch(3 bolts).
Do I have to drill it out to get it to open? What options do I have? What procedure is followed to insure doing as little damage as possible?

Your help is greatly appreciated and, as always, thanks in advance.
