w126 caliper swap
I'm working on swapping parts from a 86' 420 SEL to an 85' 300SD. Parts catalogs show a different front rotor number. If I swap the rotors and calipers together, will the 420 caliper bolt up to the 300SD front spindle? Will the bearings and seal fit the spindle?

I suspect they interchange as a unit, but not 100% on that.
I DO know you need 15" wheels if you use the 86 and up front brakes.... Jim

If the sizes are similar to the 560SEC front rotors, you might need to modify or remove the dust shields.
I just upgraded from the sliding caliper design that came on the 380 and 500SECs to the larger fixed caliper design from the 560, and other than that, it was basically a bolt on. The only other thing I noticed wouldn't be a problem for a SD, as it was just that the sliding caliper design used a different wear sensor harness than the fixed caliper brake rotors had. Happy wrenching!
