89 260E A/C question

Test drove an 89 260E today. Two test drives, first round the block then on the freeway. On the freeway drive the A/C quit. No cold air at all. Blew only ambient, which was 110 in Phoenix at 18:00 this evening. Everything seemed to be blowing ok but no compressor operation. Got back to the house and the owner checked the fuses. All ok. We found fuse #7 ran a whole heck of a lot of stuff including climate control system, compressor, backup lights, and a bunch of other stuff but it looked ok. Jiggled it a bit and the compressor kicked back in. Question is how could a bad connection on the fuse cause only the compressor to not come on but all the other stuff that the fuse controls, like the blower motor and climate control system etc still work?

- Peter.

Doubt that it did. Compressor speed sensor problem is the most likely the problem.

I agree. Simply shutting off the engine and restarting it caused the compressor to re engage. Driven again it would happen again.
