e55 w210 Transmission downshift issue
does anyone know if they upgraded the microcode for the transmission control unit(TCU) between 1999 and 2002. My 1999 has some shifting vagueness when I kick it down under power. The transmission hesitates to engage a gear either 2nd or 3rd comin from 4th. The result is the engine revs up and the tranny eventually( 1-2 seconds) engages a gear. It's very disconcerting. I'm hoping that the 2002 which is identical has a re-engineered program for the TCU.

The trans computer must match the rest of the computers.
Do you have a MB tech capable of reading live data info from the trans computer?

I don't currently have a technician. There are a couple MB specialist repair shops in the area. What is the probability that a non-factory technician will have the tools to do this?

They'll need SDS (all dealers have) or similar quality scanner and the ability to understand what they find.
