Where to start for transmission swap ('91 300E)?
I have a new (to me) w124 '91 E300 with only about 85k miles on it and I already want to swap the transmission to manual. Only problem is, I don't know where exactly to start. I've tried to read about the subject on forums, but I'm still somewhat in the dark.
Questions: What would be a good donor transmission and how would I get it? What steps do I have to go through? I'll be grateful for any and all help. Thanks in advance. |

You really need a donor car.
The 1986 & 87 300E's are a rare find with a manual transmission, but that is what you need.

I just did a quick google search on the manual transmission and found that they are rare indeed. Assuming I won't be able to lay my hands on a standard transmission specifically made for this car, is there any other transmission I can use?
