Force 'stay open' center vent

I happen to have the famous center vents issue on my 1998 c230. No doubt caused by a vacuum leak.

I live in hot ass florida. I need my center vents on and blowing cold all day, every day.

I thought I read on one of these forums someone had forced the center vents to stay in the on 'open' postion.

Is this possible to do? If so, how much of a dash disassembly do I have to do to get the center vent control?
