hey my 84 is drowning the sparkplug in oil in the #3 changed twice in 1 week time to die?

If you have a huge amount of oil consumption on one cylinder it is likely a problem with the valve guide. They do tend to wear out in time but yours sounds excessive for wear. I'd suspect that the guide has loosened in the head and is drawing oil into the intake port around it. There are oversize guides available but once a guide comes loose there are no guarantees. Worst case scenario (assuming that the bottom end of the engine isn't the source of the oil) you will have to replace the cylinder head. Best case scenario you may get away with valve guide seals. There's a few thousand dollars difference between the two.

thanks duxthe1 have appt thursday with mechanic who mentioned valve guide seals as well will check out am on a budget f.y.i. i think car was overfilled with oil - previously ran flawlessly for 15k since i got it.... well i will keep you posted
