sunroof help

I know the sunroof is broken, and it is broken at the mechanical plastic pieces that move the sunroof back and forth, up and down. The pieces are broken partly because I had broken them trying to get the damn thing to shut when it was stuck open. I know that to fix them, the sunroof has to be able to slide back to remove the headliner. However, since the cable is disconnected from the roof (with no way to fix it I might add), how might I go about removing the headliner so I can get at the sunroof and fix the plastic mechanisms (well replace them with my junkyard parts)?
