Red face 93 Mercedes 300CE code 06

We have a 93 Mercedes 300ce with ASR that keeps going into limp mode with a code 06 and the asr light on. The computer connections have all been cleaned. The ETA makes the mechanical sound as the motor turns (actually had tried a new one but no difference). the sensors have all been cleaned, brake light switch replaced. The ASR light does come on if you start car w/foot on brake. the battery voltage is fine. tire pressure is good. Can anyone help? You can turn car off, then back on again and will be fine for a while.

OK

Depending on the scanner , that could be ISC from the DM module or a bad Starter LocK sw [ Neutral Saftey SW] from the EA module.

If you go here :
E320 16 PIN DTC Charts inc. pin 8, pin 14

.. then you will see that you can access each module with a LED tool that you can make for a couple of $$.

You want to go to socket # 14 for ASR codes ..
Does your chassis have a CE lamp and a Push Button on the Diagnostic Box next to the battery ??.. If yes , that is Cal version and will have the LED/SW at the box.

OK

If the car has a CE lamp on the dash, then it is Cal Emmssions version [ vs. Federal] , and if YES , then it has the Built-In LED/SW for code retrieval..It will be right under that cap for the Diagnostic Box in front of the Battery.
In NO CE lamp, then there will be NO Led/SW on that box.

But you can make that tool I sent you to the site for..that will allow access to all codes for your car w/o a scanner, as that chassis has Flash Format codes for owner access. [ pre- digital ]..Nice Feature they no longer have after OBD2 came out. Your car is still OBD1.
