Pulley Replacement
The idler pulley on my 2000 m/b E430 came apart and shredded my belt. When replacing this pulley do I need to remove the fan in order to complete this repair? And what is the best way to remove the fan?

No, it's not necessary but it does make the job easier if you remove the fan. The fan pulley is held still by a tool over three of the four bolts that hold it on, while loosening the 36mm nut on the fan clutch.
