Power steering filter info?

On my 84 280e euro, I tried to change the filter on Sat. but could not really find one in it. Is it pressed into the bottom of the res and really really tight in there?

Does anyone have a cut away drawing of it?

Tom,

When I flushed my steering, I had to use a needle nose pliers to get the filter out by grabbing the holes in the top of it. It was lodged pretty tight in there.

I'm assuming the power steering is the same as in this thread:

Here's a pic of the filter itself:

OK, thats what I thought. But I pulled like a sonofa gun on that thing and it would not come out.

I'll try harder now that I know I am not going to destroy anything except the filer for sure.

Thanks very much!

You know, I've been driving these things over 20 years and only learned there is a filter in there about a year ago.

You have to kind of pull straight up on it. If you pull unevenly it is harder to get it loose. Try using like 2 pairs of needle nose pliers, one on each side.

Make sure there isn't a nut threaded on there, hiding, snickering the whole time.
