shocks or struts

i have a 94 e420 i trying to see what shocks or struts should i be using the one on the car are about shot when i put load in the back can someone advise me on what kind

Checking my notes, I believe the 420 has the self leveling suspension similar to the E320 in the rear. In that case you will need "spheres" also known as accumulators. you will need one for each side.

I installed a set on my wagon and other than the tight working spaces under the passenger side of the car, these units were a straightforward install.

Your E420 has a conventional (non-SLS) system. If you want to replicate the factory ride, use Bilstein Comfort front struts and rear shocks. If you want a stiffer, more controlled ride, use Bilstein HD and if you want to lower your car with aftermarket sport springs use Bilstein Sport struts/shocks.
