Spinning starter
I am actually working on another issue, but when I use a screwdriver to jump the terminals on the starter solenoid, it just spins, and doesn't engage. Does this indicate it is bad? Initially, I am trying to trouble shoot a starting issue on my 300CD, which is that is I get nothing when the key moves the Start position. I am trying to determine if it is an ignition switch, neutral safety switch or starter issue.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Spinning Starter
Your starter bendix may or may not be bad. If you are not getting 12 volts to the starter, you may not be engaging the starter pinion into the fly wheel ring gear.
