Clicking while reverse braking

I am having a strange clicking noise in the rear end of my 190E 2.6 1993, at least I think its the rear end. Whenever I am in reverse, like parking for example, whenever i tap on the brake to slow down or stop the car, the car makes a loud clicking noise. anyone know what this sound is?

Sometimes the driveshaft flex disks make noise in reverse when they get worn.

Could also be missing brake pad securing pins, or have some worn suspension parts, or broken "drum in the hat" parking brake parts.

Might want to put it up on a lift to inspect the car and have a seasoned M/B guy look at it.

i have a brand new rear flex disc and brand new suspension in the rear, including hub/wheel bearings/etc...

only thing that is not new in my rear end are the brake calipers/rotors/lines.

Did you put different wheels on it?

I've had customers with different performance wheels put on and certain lug bolts would hit the parking brake hardware causing scuffing, clicking noises because the bolts were too long.

I cured a couple simply by buzzing off a couple threads off the bolts and cleaning the threads up.

My E300 does it in the front. It clicks once when braking in reverse, then, once the first time I brake moving forward. It does it every time. I am due to replace the pads so I haven't bothered to check it out yet.

i have stock wheels on right now, so that isnt the issue.

now ive noticed that I hear a different clicking noise whenever i tap the throttle and let go at slow speeds. sounds like something with the driveshaft and it is only audible with the windows down, i cant hear it inside the car.

but the clicking sound with brakes on while reverse sounds different than the one i notice when i tap the throttle repeatedly. The click is only audible the first time I hit the brake while going reverse. If i touch the brakes again, it does not click until i move forward again.
