How do I change thermostat on a 86 420 sel

drain coolant,

remove thermostat housing, its located at the end of the lower radiator hose, where it goes into the block (three screws, 10mm)

remove old thermostat

install new thermostat (be sure the O-ring gasket is seated)

Renew coolant

dont forgot to drain the coolant in the block by pulling plug on the bllock
